Wind Farm Community Funds Grants To Leitrim Groups

Garvagh Glebe Power Ltd (a wholly-owned subsidiary of ESB) has awarded grants under the Wind Farm Community Funds to community and voluntary organisations in Leitrim as part of the fourth round of their wind farm community funds.

The funding is a part of the Black Banks, Carrane Hill, Garvagh Glebe and Tullynahaw Wind Farm Community Funds, which aim to provide financial support to local groups.

The awards were presented at Arigna Mining Experience on Wednesday the 3rd of October 2018. The groups receiving funding are as follows:

Drumkeerin Friendship Club (Active Age)
Drumkeerin GAA Club
Drumkeerin Tourist and Development Company Ltd
Drumkeerin Community Family Festival
Glen Development Group
Newbridge School House Development
South Leitrim Regional Game Council
Rowanberry Enterprises Company Ltd
Drumstrand Community Partnership CLG (T/A Lough Allen Education Centre)
Dromahair Development Association/Tidy Towns
St Patrick’s Day Committee, Drumkeerin
Drumkeerin Youth Club
Jollytots Community Creche
Dromahair Arts and Recreation Centre Association CLG
Ardvarney Parents Association
John McKenna Traditional Music Societ

Community groups and voluntary organisations are eligible to apply to the Wind Farm Community Funds if they are within the Area Of Benefit (AOB) of a wind farm, currently set at a ten kilometre radius; or be able to prove that they provide services to people within an AOB of a wind farm.

To qualify for funding projects and initiatives should also fall within one of the following areas:

  • Education and Skills
  • Health, Safety and Well being
  • Environment and Habitat Conservation
  • Energy Efficiency and Sustainability
  • Culture and Heritage
  • Recreation, Sport and Social Inclusion

The funds are made available every year, and are available for the operational life of the local wind farm (somewhere in the region of twenty years).
