A New Volunteer Centre is Coming to Leitrim in 2020
Notice of Public meeting in Bee Park Resource Centre, Manorhamilton on Wednesday the 20th November 2019 re the new centre for Leitrim.
Volunteer Ireland (VI) is delighted to announce that Leitrim will have a full-service Volunteer Centre in 2020. The Centre assists and matches people who want to volunteer in their community to find suitable roles and help local organisations to recruit them. It also provides a range of other services including Garda vetting and training in volunteer management.
After a successful meeting in Carrick on Shannon in October, VI hosts a second public meeting to reach out to and connect with the wider community across the county. This meeting is open to anyone interested in learning more about the Centre. It takes place on
Wednesday 20th November 2019 from 4.30pm to 5.30pm
in the Bee Park Resource Centre in Manorhamilton.
To date, Leitrim has had a Volunteering Information Service operating with very limited time and staff resources, aiming to simply maintain a website and access to the national database, I-VOL. Leitrim is one of eight counties that has not had a full Volunteer Centre and is now finally getting one – along with Cavan, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Roscommon, Waterford and Wexford.
Recruiting a Board of Trustees
Recruitment is now open for trustees of the board of Leitrim Volunteer Centre. Trustees with a range of skills are being sought to drive the future of volunteering in Leitrim.
VI is encouraging anyone with an interest to consider joining the board of Leitrim Volunteer Centre. This is a unique opportunity to join the Centre at the beginning of their journey and have a real and meaningful impact on volunteering in the area.
More information on the recruitment process and the public meeting is available here.
