Crossfield Construction to Commence.
We always welcome good news from the community group members. Tullaghan Development Association has been in touch to let us know about their exciting news.
The much-anticipated development of the Crossfield for Tullaghan is to begin construction after contractors were appointed by Leitrim County Council for the job, through the Government E tender process. The development will be built at the area known as the Crossfield, by Gerald Love contracts who have been contracted by Leitrim County Council to build the park in Tullaghan.
The design of this project was by October Designs based in Ballyshannon. The design was done in consultation with Tullaghan Development Association which is based on the celebration of the cross at Tullaghan, from the monastic age. The project will include car parking, footpaths, protection barriers, accessible walkways, seating, plants, garden beds, hedgerows, old stone walls and lighting.
The news has been welcomed by Tullaghan Development Association. Chairman Jimi Mc Govern said “It is fantastic to know that the local Tullaghan Community and Leitrim County Council can work so constructively together towards the completion of such well-sought-after recreational projects. We know that the residents and wider Tullaghan community alike will be very grateful for the support given to secure this project.’

Welcoming the news, local Councillor, Cllr Justin Warnock said: ‘The construction of the Crossfield in Tullaghan will be a wonderful resource for the community. Recreational spaces are important for residents to make connections in their communities. North Leitrim in general should benefit from the realisation that Leitrim is on The Wild Atlantic Way. I’m delighted that the Council were able to contribute to this project and look forward to its completion.’
It is expected that the Crossfield will be completed and available for use within the first half of 2020.
Construction is to start within the next week.
