Leitrim PPN Training
Leitrim PPN is proud to have recently hosted a QQI Level 5 learning module: Management Committee Skills Training. It is an elective module for the Level 5 Certificates in Community Development and Youth Work. The same module had been provided by Leitrim Development Company earlier in 2017 and the PPN participants had been on a waiting list for this training.
A great group of 18 participants from all over county Leitrim have completed 6 weeks of evening sessions and are currently working on their end of module Project. They braved sometimes poor weather conditions to make it to the sessions which were tutored by the wonderful Orla Leydon of Office Training Solutions, Leitrim Village. For the full album check out our Facebook page.
Training and Capacity Survey
Late last year we issued a training and capacity needs survey for Leitrim PPN members. Thank you to those of you who responded but we only got feedback from 6 groups. The results from those responses are as follows:
In addition to the possible training suggested the respondents also asked for:
- Mindfulness or meditation healing group;
- A course in community development – follow on from Management Committee Skills Training above;
- Accessing Corporate / Social Responsibility Funds;
- Advocacy training – to support older & vulnerable;
- Data Protection Training;
- Sustainable Waste and Resource Management.
Supporting Training in 2018
Leitrim PPN is looking forward to supporting training and capacity in 2018. Discussions have started with Mayo Sligo Leitrim Education & Training Board and Leitrim Development Company to avoid duplication and make sure there’s a good spread of options available to groups in Leitrim. Opportunities will be flagged in the PPN Newsletter and on Facebook and Twitter so keep an eye out. If you want to be included in the newsletter postings get in touch at info@leitrimppn.ie or by phone at 087 183 1253 or any PPN Secretariat Member. We’d love to hear from you.
