This is our last newsletter for 2019 as we get ready to sign off for Christmas. We hope you’re not rushing around too much and that you get a chance to enjoy all your local events and celebrations in your communities. Plenty more of that below.Keep an eye on the Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for any last minute grant news that might come out over Christmas and we’ll be back in full swing in January.

Social Justice Ireland recently hosted their 32nd Social Policy Conference. One of the line up of expert guest speakers was the wonderful Roddy Doyle. SJI has produced a comprehensive set of videos, papers and graphics outlining the details of the conference. We have the full set on the Leitrim PPN website  – CLICK HERE.

Phone Calling Services

Christmas can be a lonely time for some but two services in Leitrim are helping to solve this problem. Leitrim Calling and Rossinver Calling provide free, confidential calls at a time that suits. For more – CLICK HERE.

 

PEACE Plus – Have Your Say

PEACE PLUS is a new EU cross-border programme that will contribute to a more prosperous and stable society in Northern Ireland and the Border Region of Ireland.

Now is the time to have your say to help shape the content of this programme.

A series of information events are taking place between December 2019 and February 2020, running from 6pm-8pm, with registration from 5.30pm.

St Patrick’s Day Alcohol-Free Event Funding

This annual grant helps communities celebrate St Patrick’s Day without booze. It has not been released at time of issue but keep any eye on on the Leitrim PPN website, NWRDATF and Activelink.

Healthy Ireland – Small Grants

Now in its 3rd year, the ‘Healthy Ireland Fund’ aims to support innovative, cross sectoral, evidence based projects, programmes and initiatives that support key national policies in areas such as mental health, physical activity, nutrition and sexual health, tobacco and alcohol and development of spaces and places for health and wellbeing.

Grants of maximum € 2-5 K

A new fund has been launched  that will provide financial support to community and voluntary organisations in the North Leitrim and West Cavan areas. The Community Connections Fund supports projects and/or activities up to a maximum grant of €5,000.

Horticulture With Eco-Tourism
QQI level 4 training course starting in Drumshanbo in February. Career opportunities include garden maintenance, landscaping operative, golf course maintenance, etc.

Scholarship for Adult LearnersUversity is now accepting applications for its Higher Education scholarships for adult learners.

Shannon Flood SurveyDo you live close to the Shannon? A survey on flooding in the Shannon Region is underway by the University of Limerick.

The survey takes around 10 minutes to complete and closes around mid-January 2020. There is a prize draw for participating.

Sustainable Mobility PolicyA recent National Positive Ageing Strategy – Stakeholder Forum highlighted the difficulty experienced by senior citizens when using public transport.
Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport are conducting a public consultation on a Review of Sustainable Mobility Policy and have provided the link below for groups and Departments who wish to participate in the consultation.
The public consultation closes 24th January 2020.

Climate Action Consultation for Agriculture
The Department for Agriculture, Food and the Marine invites interested parties to provide written submissions in relation to “Ag-Climatise”, a National Climate & Air Roadmap for the Agriculture Sector to 2030 and Beyond.Submissions may be made by written comments and/or survey.
