Leitrim PPN – Outreach

It looks like the very bad weather is at an end and spring has finally sprung.

Our Resource Worker, Tracy Ferguson, will be out and about in the community over the coming weeks hoping to meet all the groups registered with Leitrim PPN. The purpose of this is to help make the purpose and use of the PPN clear and to find out what matters to your group.

As part of the outreach we’ll also make sure all the contact details for your group are correct and add anyone else needed to the newsletter.

Ideally we’ll meet you at your community but Tracy will also be available at Rossinver Community Centre and Ballinamore Tourism Offices at dates to be confirmed.

Joint Policing Committee

The Joint Policing Committee Meeting takes place on April 30th next. If you have any questions or matters you would like raised please contact us by April 18th and they will be passed on to your PPN Reps.


A public meeting of the Joint Policing Committee will be held at the Bee Park Centre, Manorhamilton on Thursday May 3rd at 7:30 pm. It will include presentations on drugs and alcohol and the Use Your Brains Not Your Fists initiative. More details to follow.


Following the success of last year’s “Environmental and Community Awards,”  the renamed awards are bigger and better. Celebrate your work in keeping Leitrim beautiful and adding to the social fabric of our communities by entering now.

CLÁR Funding – Deadlines Approaching

CLÁR provides funding for small scale capital projects in rural areas. It support investments such as play areas for children; traffic calming measures around schools; and support for emergency responders.

The Measures:

  • Measure 1:   Support for Schools/Community – Safety Measures; Deadline = Thurs. April 19th
  • Measure 2:   Schools/Community Play Areas (including Multiple Use Games Areas); = Thurs. April 19th
  • Measure 3:   First Response Support Measure = Mon April 30th.

Closing date for Cruinniú na nÓg


Save the date – June 23rd – Cruinniú na nÓg, celebrating creativity in young people

Do you have an idea for an event for children and young people celebrating culture and creativity?

If you are interested in organising an event Leitrim County Council can provide financial support towards the running  costs  – particularly of hiring artists or other culture/creativity sector practitioners and of materials.

Closing date for applications is Friday 20th April.


Quality and Capacity Building Initiative Funding 

The QCBI is aimed atcCommunity, voluntary and not-for-profit organisations with a track record of implementing prevention and early intervention approaches for children and young people.
Deadline for Applications is April 30th

Leitrim Environmental Group has issued a request to groups to refrain from using glysophate weedkiller products when making your communities beautiful this year. This follows on from a successful campaign and motion passed by Leitrim Council to do the same. For full details please click the link below.


Launch of New Community Water Development Fund 2018

Waters & Community Funds

The Local Authority Waters & Communities Office are pleased to announce the launch of an open call for applications to a Community Water Development Fund 2018. Closing date for receipt of applications is Monday, 28 May at 19.00hrs.

This fund is open to all community and voluntary groups to assist in the protection and management of water quality, both locally and in the wider catchment.

Types of projects considered will include:

  • Capital projects such as restoration/habitat conservation/natural flood mitigation measures.
  • Projects that promote public awareness/education and events such as biodiversity days, surveys, training workshops, surveys and plans, etc.
  • General amenity such as beach clean, improving amenity areas, bird watching facilities, etc.
Grants awarded will range from up to €5,000; up to €10,000 and up to €25,000.
