Memory Technology Resource Room

How it helps

It can be much easier to be independent and safe within your own home when you have the right supports and equipment.

The Resource Rooms are set up to show you what equipment and technology is available. It gives tyou an opportunity to see and try out different devices and strategies to promote independence, safety and quality of life. It allows you to make sure that the devices or strategies work for you or your loved one.

Memory Technology & Tools

Many tools can be used to increase independence and safety at home. Telecare is one example of assistive technology. It makes it possible to monitor you, or your loved one, at home so that emergencies can be detected and responded to immediately. Sensors can include fall detectors, gas/heat cooker sensors, flood detectors and motion sensors.

Stand alone devices (that don’t need monitoring) can also be helpful and are low tech such as signs and prompts. The room has examples of how these can be used. The service also provides Quality of Life ideas such as life history nook or a personalised rummage box can make all of the difference to people living with dementia. The Independent Living Skills Suite has examples of these and advice on how to put these together. Leaflets & information on services and entitlements are also available.
