Celebrate Your Community with Love Where You Live – Leitrim
Time to nominate your community groups and heroes in Leitrim’s Love Where You Live Awards 2019.
Last year 108 nominations were received over eight categories of the awards which celebrate the voluntary and community effort that makes Leitrim a place to Love Where You Live.
Leitrim Public Participation Network is proud to sponsor the four awards that celebrate your achievements in making sure everyone in the community has the resources they need to participate in local life, regardless of ability, race, creed or age.
Categories
There are four community and voluntary awards:
- Community Resources – for groups that manage or promote resources for their community. These could be buildings or spaces – or any project that makes life better for the wider community.
- Social Inclusion – for groups that create opportunities for all to participate in local community life.
- Community Resilience – for groups of any size that address challenges with continued purpose and vision over time,
- Unsung Hero – celebrating the tireless individual in every community who makes an outstanding contribution to living locally.

There are four environmental awards sponsored by Leitrim County Council:
- Cleaner & Greener – open to all community groups that work to improve the appearance of their areas using environmental methods e.g., Tidy Towns, Local Development Associations, etc.
- Best Kept Estate – encouraging residents to enhance the appearance of dwellings and open spaces in their estates.
- Primary & Secondary Schools – recognising schools that encourage active participation in promotion of the natural environment and upkeep of school surrounds.
- Business – for the businesses that maintain their outward appearance and contribute positively to their local environment.

There are three awards in each category, one for each Municipal District: Ballinamore, Carrick on Shannon and Manorhamilton.
Awards in each category amounted to €400 for each Municipal District Winner in 2018.

Entries and Judging
We have tried to make entering even easier this year so there is just one form for the Community entries and one form for the Environmental Entries. Please submit them by email or post by close of business on 10th April 2019.
