LPT or Local Property Tax – It’s time to have your say.
LPT – Local Adjustment? Leitrim County Council is seeking written submissions from the public, prior to a meeting in September to set a local adjustment factor in the Local Property Tax.
The Finance (Local Property Tax) Act 2012 (As Amended) makes specific provision for elected members of a local authority to pass a formal resolution to vary the basic rate of the Local Property Tax for their administrative area.
They can do this by a percentage known as the local adjustment factor.
Members can set the adjustment within a range of +/- 15 % of the basic rate.
They may also decide not to adjust the basic rate.
Leitrim County Council seeks written submissions from the public in relation to this matter.
Specifically, they would welcome submissions covering the potential effects of varying the basic rate of the Local Property Tax on businesses, individuals and on local authority services.
Post your written submissions by August 19th 2019.
