ROUNDING UP 2018

Everybody is busy at this time of year so we won’t keep you too long in this Christmas Newsletter. It’s enough to say that it’s been a busy year for us and for you in your communities. To keep things short and sweet for you, we are just listing items with links to the full article. Just click on the things you are interested in.

Ongoing Processes

We are delighted to have two processes in train that exemplify participation in policy making  – Waste Water Treatment Research and the Forestry Policy Review (still open -see below). Both of these are important at local level but have national implications and are being watched by other PPNs across the country. Also on an Environmental note, people have signed up to join the Leitrim Local Environmental Network. This is ongoing so get in touch if you want to be part of it. Tidy Towns and other groups are welcome to be part of the LEN – for more, CLICK HERE

Defibrillators in Leitrim

Back in February, on the back of a letter Leitrim PPN sent to the National Ambulance Service registering concern over the delays in response times, South Leitrim Community Network asked about a list of all the defibrillators in County Leitrim. We are delighted to publish an online map of Public Defibrillators that we have been notified of. This work was done in collaboration with Leitrim Volunteering Information Service. It was great to work in partnership with them and Leitrim Development Company during 2018 and we look forward to more of that in the coming months. The map is not complete so let us know what we’re missing. For more on this CLICK HERE.

Thank You Very Much…

Thanks to you all for your active membership – sending in notices, photos, events and inviting us to share your activities and to all of you who entered Awards competitions, local and national. Thank you for your likes and shares on Facebook and your kind comments in emails and in person. The support for the work is much appreciated. Thanks for the tea and cakes when out visiting!

Thanks also to the Leitrim PPN Representatives on committees and boards and the Secretariat that keep the processes rolling.

Nollaig Shona 2018 and Best Wishes for a Healthy and Happy 2019.
