 What’s New?

Hope you are all enjoying the Summer. Not too much in the way of funding this edition but important consultations that affect us:
Fracking in Fermanagh and the new scheme for Strategic Policy Committees. Check them out if you have something to say.

Summer Fun Continues 

You’re all busy with your Summer Events and as ever, send in anything your groups is doing and we’ll put it up on the website, Facebook, etc. Leitrim has lots to offer so check out the Diary Dates for the next few events. Well done to all involved in the recent Stylish Silo and Manorhamilton Wild Rose events.

PPN Re-Registration 

The Re-Registration process has now begun for Leitrim PPN. The emails and letters have been sent out. Thank you to everyone that has re-registered so far. Give us a call if you’re having any problems with it. For more on why and what – CLICK HERE

Judging has now concluded in the Love Where You Live Leitrim scheme for 2019. We have had the pleasure of visiting the Manorhamilton, Ballinamore and Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal Districts. Thanks to all  the communities for showing us such great work. The awards will be  announced at the ceremony night on 10 Oct. 2019. in the Lough Allen Hotel, Drumshanbo.

FUNDING & OPPORTUNITIES

Leitrim Warmer Homes image

Leitrim Warmer Homes is a local energy efficiency contractor serving the counties of the North West.  It is a not for profit enterprise and Leitrim PPN Member. If your house was build before 2006 you may be able to receive up to £1,250 in grants and there is a 10% discount on all attic and cavity wall insulation in July. Click Here for further details.

Digital Skills for Citizens – Free
Free training available for groups of 10 or more. Increasing online and  smart phone skills has helped people overcome loneliness, save money, pursue new interests and much more. If you would like to find out more and get this training for your community –

Home Improvements – Various Funds

Home improvement grants and other incentives are available  to make homes more energy efficient, with grants also available for mobility and housing aid for older people.

Environment and Nature Fund Sustainable Communities

This fund has three strands and aims to help communities  devised to reduce consumption and waste by supporting the experience and enthusiasm of local community groups.
Grants range from anywhere up to € 10,000. Deadline for applications is Aug 2nd 2019 – For more details – CLICK HERE

CONSULTATIONS

Public Consultation on Exploration License in Fermanagh
Leitrim led the way in achieving a  Irish ban on fracking. A public consultation on granting a new exploratory license in Fermanagh is currently open until Wed. 31st July 2019. For more info and making a submission  see our website – CLICK HERE.

Strategic Policy Committee Scheme 2019 -2024

You are invited to comment on the revised Scheme for the Strategic Policy Committees for the present term of the newly elected council, 2019 – 2024. This has been issued so that comments and observations can be made to inform the adoption of this Scheme for the next 5 years. Submissions accepted until the end of July.

Now is the time  to have your say on the Local Property Tax. Leitrim County Council will meet in September to confirm the local adjustment factor for the county. The Council can decide to retain the existing rate, or vary it.

Community Involvement Scheme 2019

Leitrim County Council is now inviting applications for the Community Involvement Scheme 2019 for the repair and/or upgrade of Local Roads in the county.
