With the summer coming to an end, good luck to all with your back to school preparations.
While most festivals have now finished, Heritage Week is continuing in Leitrim and see our news item for details of all the remaining events.
Elsewhere, we have some exciting news of a national award shortlisting for the Leitrim Defibrillator Mapping project.

PPN RE-REGISTRATION

The Re-Registration process is on-going for Leitrim PPN. The emails and letters have been sent out. Thank you to everyone who have re-registered so far. WELL DONE STUDENTS 
Well done to all students who received their Leaving Certificate results. A timely reminder that  there are a wide range of scholarships available for third level students. Some of them need to be applied for and other just kick in with high achievement. CLICK HERE and HERE for further details.

PPN DEFIBRILLATOR PROJECT NOMINATED FOR NATIONAL AWARD 
We are celebrating this month as some excellent collaborative work by Leitrim community groups and agencies has led to a national award nomination. The Leitrim Defibrillator Mapping Project-a joint venture by Leitrim PPN and Leitrim Development Company-has been shortlisted in the 16th annual Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards for Supporting Active Communities. The project has resulted in an online map for public-use of defibrillators located throughout county Leitrim. Well done to all involved!

HERITAGE WEEK CONTINUES IN LEITRIM 
Organisations and local community groups throughout the county have organised a brilliant mix of FREE events for all age groups and interests.

FUNDING & OPPORTUNITIES

Hands For Life Training-Free
Free community CPR Awareness training is available in Leitrim. Leitrim PPN brings the Irish Heart Foundation’s CPR training to The Mayflower Centre, Drumshanbo on September 12th next
There are three sessions at 4pm, 5.30pm and 7.00pm and they last about an hour.

This training is a follow-on from the Leitrim Defibrillator Mapping Project being shortlisted for a national award in the Chambers of Ireland excellence in Local Government awards.

FREE CROSS-BORDER WOMENS’  PEACE TRAINING
The Foyle Womens’ Network is coordinating PACT, a free ILM-assured training project, designed to promote peace and reconciliation across Ireland and Northern Ireland. Training will be offered at a venue near you to women aged +16. To find out more CLICK HERE 

START YOUR OWN TOURISM BUSINESS 

Are you thinking about starting a tourism business? Have time on your hands? Then maybe this free course is for you. ETB Level 5 Tourism with Business. ESB’S ENERGY FOR GENERATIONS FUND
Charities working in the areas of suicide prevention, homelessness and educational access and support can now apply for the ESB Energy For Generations Fund. The next quarterly deadline is September 5th. The aim of the scheme is to take a more strategic approach to making change.For more details and to apply CLICK HERE 

CONSULTATIONS

Public Consultation on Leitrim Digital StrategyYou now have a chance to have your say on Leitrim’s Digital Strategy. Leitrim County Council is in the early stages of preparing the strategy.The Council has prepared a short survey for community groups and organisations and to take part in the survey simply CLICK HERE 

 

Community Involvement Scheme 2019

Leitrim County Council is now inviting applications for the Community Involvement Scheme 2019 for the repair and/ or upgrade of Local Roads in the County. For further details CLICK HERE 
Closing Date is Friday 30th August 2019.

Real Productive Justice – The Centre for Disability Law and Policy at NUI Galway is currently researching the experience of disability in relation to reproductive rights.

They are interested in talking with disabled people who are over 18 who have experienced difficulties on the basis of disability or a mental health diagnosis when seeking services related to reproduction and starting a family.. For more – CLICK HERE

NATIONAL SOCIAL ENTERPRISE POLICY

A National Social Enterprise Policy for Ireland has just been launched.  Leitrim PPN’s member groups include social enterprises. Many of our member groups run social enterprises. CLICK HERE for more info and to view the full policy document.
