What’s Happening?

After running the local festivals and getting ready for Tidy Towns judging you’ll be pleased to know that this is a much slimmer issue than usual and reflects the summer time with people and offices on holidays. However, there’s still stuff to do apart from taking in the turf…

COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAMME 2018
– Deadline looming

REMINDER – If you are putting in an application for the Community Enhancement Programme 2018, it would be a good idea to get it in as soon as you can before the deadline. If there is any problem with the application, it can be identified and possibly fixed so you submit again before July 30th. Don’t delay. The emphasis is on addressing disadvantage so be mindful of that when completing your forms. For more and forms and guidelines if you still need them CLICK HERE

MENTAL HEALTH WEEK – GET INVOLVED

World Mental Health week is a global initiative to promote mental health education, awareness and advocacy and to reduce social stigma around the topic of mental health. Leitrim PPN is working with Mental Health Ireland in partnership with the HSE, Leitrim Development Company and community and voluntary organisations to help host a range of interesting, informative and fun events across the week, which runs from 7th to 14th October 2018.

It would be wonderful if your group would consider getting involved and organising a suitable event to help engage the local community and spread the message of openness and acceptance around the whole theme of mental health. This could be anything from a coffee morning to a wellness workshop. For inspiration and more info CLICK HERE.

 Leitrim PPN in Dromahair

Leitrim Public Participation Network’s Secretariat and Resource Worker met with Community Groups in Dromahair last week.   This was the first in a series of meetings organised by the Secretariat to engage with Community Groups, to listen to the ideas and hear their concerns regarding local and national issues.

The meeting was well attended with representatives from Tidy Towns Heritage and Development Association Groups.  There were lots of ideas and views exchanged.

The PPN is currently working on a number of projects, the mapping of defibrillators in Leitrim and the very topical issue of researching the sustainable options for single house (domestic) wastewater treatment systems.

Leitrim PPN will be holding further meetings throughout the County. Also, your Resource Worker, Tracy, will be based at Ballinamore Tourist Office on Thurs Aug 2nd and 16th and in Rossinver Community Centre on Thurs. 26th July and 23rd August. Pop in for a chat or  Please keep up to date with these events by checking the website –  www.leitrimppn.ie  – and on our FACEBOOK and TWITTER channels.

DON’T FORGET TO LET US KNOW ABOUT YOUR SUMMER EVENTS AND FESTIVALS AND KEEP IN TOUCH EVERY DAY THROUGH THE WEBSITE, FACEBOOK & TWITTER.
