A LEADER funded project in Leitrim has been added to the ENRD database for Good Practise.
The European Network for Rural Development (ENRD) serves as a hub for exchange of information on rural development policy works in practice. The aim of sharing the information is to see where improvements could be made to achieve more. Its ‘Projects and Practice’ database includes over 370 good practice examples.
McCauley Wood Fuels received grant support from LEADER. They developed a Biomass Supply Chain Development project. The company invested in a larger capacity and more efficient wood chipping machine. This helped expansion of their biomass production capacity and customer base. This enabled them to increase the use of local renewable fuel sources, thereby reducing the need for imported carbon based fuel. More broadly the project also assisted the development of the renewable wood supply chain in the north-west region, while also supporting the development of the forestry/biomass sector.
The project was funded under the LEADER 2014-2020 Programme. Congratulations to all involved.
