Community Consultations – Remembering Leitrim’s War Dead

Remembering Leitrim’s War Dead seeks to explore ways to remember and commemorate the men and women of Leitrim who were affected by the First World War. It aims to develop a consensus of ideas around a World War 1 remembrance project.
Facilitated consultations will take the form of public workshops, focus group meetings and one to one meetings. 

Community Enhancement Programme – Now Open for Applications

The Community Enhancement Programme is now open for applications. The programme provides funding to communities across Ireland to enhance facilities in disadvantaged areas.  It builds on and replaces the Communities Facilities Scheme and RAPID programme.

What does that mean in practice? Well, it means that if you are looking for tables and chairs or equipment up to €1000, you apply under the smaller fund. If your community is looking for capital funds for a project that is valued over €3000 then you go for the bigger fund.

Leitrim Bid for Volunteer Centre

Do you think that there is a need for a dedicated Volunteer Centre in Leitrim?
Leitrim Development Company is currently applying for a Volunteer Centre for Leitrim. A Volunteer Centre provides a link between people interested in volunteering and non-profit groups looking for volunteers. These  centres advertise for volunteers on behalf of groups and refer interested people to these groups.  A volunteer centre would have dedicated staff and facilities to carry out this service and others that would help community groups.
In order to assist with this, Leitrim Development Company would be grateful if your group, could take the time to fill out the questionnaire below and return it to them by the 18th May 2018.

A Life-Saving List for Leitrim

Public defibrillators are a valuable resource for communities in the event of an emergency. Recent community meetings have highlighted the fact that there is no central list of the location of these units in Leitrim. Leitrim PPN is involved in a cooperative project with Leitrim Volunteering Information Service (VIS) and  supported by the National Ambulance Service (NAS) aiming to rectify this. We need your help.

Town and Village Renewal Scheme 2018

Leitrim County Council is now inviting Expressions of Interest from town/village community and business interests for inclusion in The Town and Village Renewal Scheme 2018. The Scheme has an allocation of €15 Million and is an initiative under the Government’s Action Plan for Rural Development, Realising our Rural Potential, and the recently announced Project Ireland 2040, and is designed to help rural Ireland achieve its full economic and social potential. It is part of a package of national and local support measures to rejuvenate rural towns and villages throughout Ireland.
Closing date for Expressions of Interest is 4 pm on Wednesday 23rd May. Read on for more details and form.
