Organisations across Ireland who work on issues of human rights and equality are being invited to apply to the Human Rights and Equality Grant Scheme 2019. The Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission will award small grants of up to €6,000 and general grants of up to €20,000 to support activities in Ireland that advance economic and social rights and equality in relation to the prioritised areas of:
- Housing/Accommodation;
- Health
- Decent work.
The strict deadline for receipt of applications is Monday 15th April at 5pm.
Information Sessions
To promote awareness of this national grants programme, the Commission will be hosting four regional events with local partners through March in:
Limerick on March 13th 2019 from 10am-1pm in The Strand Hotel, Ennis Road, Limerick City, V94 03F2.
Galway on March 14th 2019 from 10am-1pm in The Connacht Hotel, Old Dublin Rd, Galway, H91 K5DD.
Carlow on March 20th 2019 from 10am-1pm in the Woodford Dolmen Hotel, Kilkenny Road, Carlow, Co. Carlow, R93 N207.
Dublin on March 23rd 2019 from 2pm-5pm in The Irish Human Rights
and Equality Commission, 16-22 Green Street, Dublin 7, D07 CR20.

Please register for an event by emailing RSVP@ihrec.ie with the location and date of the event you would like to attend in the subject line.
When registering please feel free to let the Human Rights and Equality Commission know if you have any special requirements, for example, dietary, accessibility, ISL interpretation. This will help them in their preparations for the events.
Eligible Approaches For Projects Include
- Building people’s awareness and understanding
- Assisting people to vindicate their rights
- Supporting equal treatment on equality grounds
- Strengthening the capacity of civil society to engage with public bodies on the public sector equality and human rights duty
- Providing evidence base to develop rights based legislation, policy and practice
Eligible Activities For Grant Support Can Include
- Research and legal & policy analysis
- Education and training activities and resources
- Conferences, seminars, workshops
- Digital tools and campaigns
The Human Rights and Equality Grants Scheme is open to civil society organisations, including community and voluntary organisations, non-governmental and non-profit organisations, groups representing geographic communities or communities of interest, and trade unions.
