General Meeting of Leitrim PPN – Nov 2019

A General Meeting of Leitrim PPN will take place on Wed. Nov. 6th 2019 at the Mayflower Community Centre (Main Hall), Drumshanbo at 8 pm.

Two General Meetings take place each year and it is an opportunity for the members to direct the work of Leitrim PPN.

 

Sustainable Development Goals

As well as the general work of the meeting, updates on work achieved and ratification of decisions, Catriona Rogerson of the Irish Environmental Network is joining the meeting to outline how PPNs can help achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs). If you haven’t heard about these, the Sustainable Development Goals address global challenges, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice. The Goals interconnect and Ireland has signed up to achieving the 17 SGDs below by 2030. (Click on the image to find out more).

 

 

Representation and Elections

This year, because of the Local Government Elections in May 2019 and normal resignations, a number of representative posts became vacant. Nominations were called for and the response has been good. The following representative positions will be ratified or contested at the General Meeting next Wednesday.

 

Elections and Voting

Depending on the representation requested, each member group has one vote through their Pillar or Municipal District. So in the case of the nominations received above, there are two elections confined to the Environmental Pillar –

• Strategic Policy Committee for Planning, Economic Development and Infrastructure;

and one election confined to the Social Inclusion Pillar –

• Strategic Policy Committee for Housing, Community and Culture.

The election for Leitrim Childcare Committee is now uncontested as a nomination has been withdrawn.

 

There were no nominations for the LEADER Evaluation Committee (Carrick on Shannon Municipal District) or for 2 vacancies on the North West Regional Drug & Alcohol Task Force open to members of the Community & Voluntary Pillar.

Process

Where applicable, a voting card will be available to each Member Group. These will be sealed and prepared in advance. An invitation will be sent to the Main Contact in each PPN Member Group and you are asked to respond advising of attendance.

IMPORTANT: We have been seeking your help with re-registration since the end of July this year. If your group has not re-registered by close of business this Monday 4th Nov. your group will be removed from the database.
