Non-Conformists, Radicals, Playwrights & Poets…
October 10 @ 7:00 pm - November 28 @ 7:00 pm
Non-Conformists, Radicals, Playwrights and Poets: Challenging the Stereotypes of the Ulster Protestant Imagination. A new ‘cultural connections’ seminar series starts at the Glens Centre, Manorhamilton on Oct 10th.
The seminar series is hosted by the engaging historian Connal Parr.
This reading group/seminar series purposefully ‘looks north’ to learn more about “The Ulster Protestant Imagination’ . Seminar host, Connall Parr argues this is very much part of ‘the creative pulse’ and cultural heritage of the north.
This is a good time to look beyond stereotypes. During the seminars ‘creative texts’ and cultural work offer one way to learn. The sessions take place in shared and open spaces. You don’t need to be a reader or a bookworm to take part. Simply come along with ‘a curiosity about cultural myth-making and myth-busting’ and you will leave having had an enjoyable and engaging time with Connal and others.
Note: The programme will avail of a number of cultural spaces in Leitrim and Fermanagh and so some travel is involved.
Places are limited for the 8 week series – registering is essential. Participants are encouraged to take part in as many of the sessions as possible so there is a better chance of good conversation and for local connections to be made.
The final event is a performance (Dec 5th) and will be an Open event with additional places made available (a small charge will apply) (via Glens Ticketsolve in 2 weeks times).
