Representatives Sought For Cross-Sectoral Government Body

A new Cross-Sectoral Group on Local and Community Development is seeking representatives from local communities.

There are two seats reserved for practitioners or those involved in the community and voluntary sector, or local community development.

Another seat is reserved for an academic representative.

The group will play a key role in implementing the Government’s Sustainable, Inclusive and Empowered Communities Strategy.

This is a five-year plan to support the community and voluntary sector in Ireland 2019-2024.

The role of representatives will involve inputting to annual workplans, monitoring progress on implementation and advising on any changes that may be needed to existing actions.

The group comprises representation from relevant Government Departments, public bodies and community and voluntary stakeholders.

Expressions of interest must be submitted using the appropriate application form via email to lcdev@drcd.gov.ie  

The deadline is Tuesday, December 3rd next

The Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring TD speaking on the Strategy said: “The original cross-sectoral group on Local and Community Development achieved phenomenal work in creating this important document, agreeing also a commitment to their rer-establishment, with a reviewed membership, to advance the objectives and monitor progress of the implementation of Sustainable, Inclusive and Empowered Communities.

“To ensure the broadest representation of voices on the Group, I am inviting expressions of interest from persons involved in the stakeholder groups to participate in the new Cross-Sectoral Group.”
