Creative Industry Skills Training at The Glens Centre

Across the Lines is offering a new Creative Industry Skills Course. There are 12 places available to young people aged between 18 – 30 years and those changing career direction or seeking to further a career within music or theatre production within the Creative Industry. Participants should be living in the Leitrim/Fermanagh border area.

 

Participants may enrol for all 12 weeks, or for one of the three modules:

  1. Live Sound Production;
  2. Digital Recording and
  3. Stage Lighting.

Courses will be facilitated by Ray Duffy, Sound and Light Specialist and Technical Manager at The Glens Centre.

 

Live Sound Production (4 weeks):

Get the best of your equipment, understanding the different elements of a PA system and practical workshops.

Wednesdays: 6.30-9.30pm, 21 Feb, 28 Feb, 7 March, 14 March 2018 

 

Digital Recording (4 weeks):

Learn about microphone types, techniques, monitoring set ups and mixing. Learn essential skills required for high quality recordings using Digital Audio Workstation software – recording, editing and undertaken post production using the Logic Pro X application.

Wednesdays: 6.30-9.30pm, 11 April, 18 April, 25 April, 2 May 2018

 

Stage Lighting (3 weeks):

Learn about best practice in rigging and focusing, lantern types and uses, the use of colour to create atmosphere, planning and design for different types of production, and electrical safety for live shows.

Wednesdays: 6.30-9.30pm, 16 May, 23 May, 30 May 2018  

 

Creative Careers  – Open Seminar

Industry professionals share their experiences and advise on career opportunities.

Barry Conway, Director of Training at The Lir Academy, Award winning Lighting Designer Nick McCall, and Stage Manager Paula Tierney (Wexford Festival Opera).

Sat 9th June 2018 – 2pm.
