Community Woodland Award
The Community Woodland Award is designed to encourage and reward projects involving the communal ownership and/or management of forests and woodlands which have been established and managed in a sustainable way that is beneficial to the local community, environment, and/or economy. Entry is open to woodland-related community-based projects including participants in the NeighbourWoods Scheme and amenity or conservation forestry projects.
Recent winners of the Community Woodlands include:
2019: Vartry Reservoir, Co. Wicklow
2018: Colin Glen Forest Park, Co, Antrim
2017: Castlecomer Discovery Park, Co. Kilkenny
Prizes and Awards Night
Award winners will be announced at the 2020 RDS Spring Awards which will take place in the RDS Concert Hall in April next year. Focusing on sustainable, climate-smart agriculture, the RDS Spring Awards have gone from strength to strength in recent years and attract over 250 attendees.
Prizes
- The winner in each Forestry Award category will receive €2,000 and an RDS Silver Medal
- The runner-up in each category will receive €1,000 and an RDS Certificate of Merit
- Category winners will also receive a specially commissioned trophy.
