Help is at hand…

Re: Leitrim County Council’s Creative Ireland Open Call Project Applications

A chara,

Over the last couple of weeks we have been raising awareness of Leitrim County Council’s Creative Ireland open Call which provides the opportunity for an artist and a group to together develop a project of any description that enhances and encourages creativity. We are however conscious that there are many groups who may be enthusiastic to get involved in something like this but might not know where to start. Equally there might be artists interested in working with groups that don’t know what groups are out there or how to get in contact with them.

There are two vital points of contact for this project, our Creative Frame network, which has a membership of over 400 professional creative sector practitioners and the Leitrim Public Participation Network with its membership of over 250 groups.

So, the arts office is facilitating a wanted/offered board. If your group might be interested in working with an artist but don’t know who to contact, email arts@leitrimcoco.ie before next Thursday with the following…

  1. The name of your group
  2. Two sentences about what you do
  3. Type of artist, artform or creative activity you would like to work with (can be undecided)
  4. Areas of interest, or the type of project you’d like to work on (doesn’t have to be detailed or well defined, you don’t even have to know what you want to do yet – you just need to be enthusiastic!)
  5. Email or phone number for an artist to contact you

At this stage you don’t have to know what sort of project you’d like to do. You just need to connect with an artist that you’d like to work with. We’re appointed Siobhan O’Malley as Creative Ireland Project Manager and once you’ve decided to develop an application with an artist, she’ll be on hand to help you develop your project id you need further assistance.

On Friday next we’ll put that list out to all artists interested in the programme and let them get in contact with you directly. The closing date for completed applications has been extended to 15th June. There is also application info session tomorrow night (Tuesday) at 8pm in the Glens Centre.
