Broadband delay: Leitrim County Council wants the Government to prioritise NBP

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

“Households and businesses across Co Leitrim will be left without access to high-speed broadband for at least another year as a result of a further delay to the roll-out of the National Broadband Plan (NBP)”

“Leitrim’s County Councillors have stressed the need for a speed up of the roll-out of the National Broadband Plan (NBP), especially in light of the fact that an estimated 51% of the county falls under this plan – the highest pourcentage in the State”
“The Department of Communications is insisting the procurement process for the delivery of the NBP will run parallel to Eir’s roll-out of upgrades, but it appears that the NBP will only start connecting customers after Eir has completed its contracted roll-out”
“Cllr Mary Bohan has stressed the need for proper broadband speeds noting there are enterprise centres in rural locations which are losing custom because speeds are not sufficient to meet the needs of start-ups”
